About

This tour is centered on the edge of the Middle Arava, between road 40 in the north of the plain and road 90 (Sapir to Hatzava). The tour route passes along the eastern part of two of the transects of the Negev-Sinai: Atek Arif-Bator and Atek Masor. The goals of the tour are to get to know this isolated region of land, which is not usually accessible due to the constraints of fire areas, to study the sedimentary, volcanic, and structural history of the latitudinal deposits in this area, and to know the complex field relationships between the fluvial and lake sediments that were deposited in the area between the Miocene and the early Pleistocene.

Departure on Wednesday (4.1) in the morning. The first day will mainly be dedicated to arriving at the area (in the afternoon), getting organized, and an overview of the tour at its first stop. The next two days will be a continuous walk of medium-hard difficulty between Nahal Hadev and Sapir (15-18 km each day). The walk will be carried out with day equipment only. The food and accommodation equipment will be transported by a managed vehicle between the accommodation points: Nahal Hadev, Har Masha parking lot , and the springs axis near Sapir. The last day (Saturday) will mainly be spent traveling between the various stations on an open hike in the area of Nahal Nakarot and Nahal Masur.

The cost of the tour: 1200 NIS per participant (900 NIS per student).

The cost includes transportation (round trip) from Jerusalem, food and tour booklet.

Those who are interested in a tent and/or a mattress - this must be indicated at the time of registration (separate cost).
